Dolly's Golden Rain Tree Crafts and Heritage Museum
Dolly's Golden Rain Tree Crafts & Heritage Museum is located at 45 Chandos Terrace, Lameroo and houses the Lameroo Craft Shop, including visitor information and the Lameroo District Historical Society Museum.
Lameroo is on the Mallee Highway, 200kms East of Adelaide.
Browse through the beautifully kept shop which is stocked with an ever changing range of locally made quality craft, country cooking, sewing, knitting, art woodcraft and souvenir lines. Enjoy morning or afternoon tea and a leisurely stroll around the museum.
Erected in 1911 the building was designed as a shop and dwelling. It was first used as a green grocery and then a saddler and leather worker. The next occupant, besides mending harness, sold push bikes and motorcycles. The building then became a private home until converted for its current use.
The Museum has an amazing array of interesting memorabilia including displays reflecting the early settlement of the area. A replica of an early Community Hall/School, Church, Post Office, Bank & Shops as well as displays showing the Blacksmith, Farming, Mechanical and other aspects of a life in a small town.
The majority of the items on display in the Museum have been donated and/or collected within the Lameroo area.
Come in, browse, enjoy a relaxing Coffee or Devonshire Tea inside in air-conditioned comfort or alfresco under the beautiful Golden Raintree. The building is easily accessed, wheelchair & pram friendly, all under one roof.

Tours & small groups are welcome by arrangement.
Bookings are appreciated for coaches due to staffing arrangements. Weekend, public holiday & after-hours tours maybe arranged by appointment.

Archive Centre
Located at 46 Railway Terrace North, Lameroo SA.
The Centre houses an extensive collection of memorabilia, photographs, old documents, books, newspapers & cuttings dating back to the settlement of the district in the early 1900’s. The collection is available for family and club research on site.
In February 2024 a mural was painted on the shipping container at the rear of the centre by artist, Jarrod Loxton. This wonderful mural highlights our Mallee sunset, early farming history & native fauna. Be sure to take the time to stop and have a look.
The Archive Centre is Open on Wednesdays and by appointment, by contacting the Lameroo & District Historical Society
Pine Grove
Pine Grove is located on the Yappara Road. 2kms South East of Lameroo. This is the site of Byrne Cottage, an original pug & pine cottage built by the pioneering family, James & Margaret Byrne, in the early 1900’s. It housed a family with 9 children. The four rooms showcase life as it was in those early years of the Mallee. It was restored and opened in time for the SA 150 Jubilee in 1986.
To access this cottage, a key is available during the Lameroo Craft shop opening hours or by contacting the Lameroo & District Historical Society.
A large machinery shed is also at this site which houses static displays and numerous old implements & machinery.
Lameroo Railway Station
The railway line reached Lameroo in April 1906, which is the date often used for town and district celebrations. The railway office, built in the early 1900’s is one of the last standing reminders of Lameroo’s once busy railway station. Access can be arranged to browse the displays set up inside the office by contacting the Lameroo & District Historical Society.
